Yesterday we went on another CAVA outing- this time to see the Monarch Butterflies in Pismo Beach. There weren't quite as many as there have been in the past, but there were still about 15,000! The girls learned about how the butterfly grows, the characteristics of the male and female and the migratory patterns. It was pretty neat when we saw one flutter down and land on the ground. Isabella immediately said- that is a boy butterfly. She could tell from the markings! When we looked up in the trees, we could not see them at first. All of the butterflies sort of clump together! We thought they were just leaves! But when we looked closer, we could see that they were actually Monarch Butterflies!
